Slow Down in Turtle Town

A trauma-informed, animal guided experiential wellness & education program for adolescents, adults, or elders where  rescued African Sulcata tortoises lead and humans learn to listen, balance, slow down, build agency, solve challenges, create better boundaries, improve vitality, live intentionally, connect & co-regulate. The facilitators are trained wellness guides who walk beside the animals and clients with curiosity, compassion, and heart-centered alignment to foster their betterment, while creating safe spaces to explore, learn, and grow. Sessions can be facilitated on site to home school students or groups, schools, treatment centers, hospitals, nursing homes, businesses, events, etc… for individuals or groups (including team building sessions). The entire program can also be installed with the set up of rescued turtles, their dwelling enclosures, natural food sources, materials needed, and facilitator training or trained facilitator session visits. Other animals are often part of the program. Participants are treated as their own expert healers.

Sample Session

* Explanation of session flow, purpose, safety rules, and expectations. 

* Set positive or healing intention. 

* State what the participant(s) would most like for themselves or would choose to work on in session as a group or individually, while also exploring what may be getting in the way of what they most desire.
* Begin a deep breathing grounding exercise to slow down, get centered, center, align with animals, connect to the present moment, & prepare for the experience.
* Choose an experiential modality such as: art (painting, drawing, chlorophyll tie-dye making, jewelry making, rock art, vision boarding, & more), music (song writing, solfeggio instruments, karaoke & more), book or poem reading or writing to animals, etc…

* Engage in movement modality such as Qi-Gong, stretching, interpretive dance, yoga, animal mimicking , etc…

* Dynamic & passive guided meditation with breathing practices .
* EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
* Educational Q & A time, including how to care for the animals (building shelters, growing or preparing food, watering, handling, safety, & more), and FUN FACTS to learn more about the animals.
*Sharing about the experience and writing in a journal.
* Setting intention for next session, along with a take home self-care intention.
* Gratitude closing circle to practice positivity (naming things or experiences to be grateful for from the sessions, along with goal setting). 


Length 60, 90, 120 minute sessions, or customized time periods.

Meet The Founder

Laura is a retired (due to injuries) clinician, trained in NARM (Neuro Affective Relational Model), Eagala (Equine Assisted Therapy), Mental Health & Substance Abuse Counseling, and is experienced many Healing Art Modalities such as: Bodywork/Massage Therapy (LMT prior, including certifications in Watsu, Swedish, Sports, Thai, LaStone, Reiki, & more), Qi-Gong (precious White Tiger Certification), Yoga (Kundalini & Restorative), Meditation Dynamic & Passive (Jose Silva trained from Mind Valley), EFT, Nutrition/Cooking, Musical & Artistic Wellness, Eco-Wellness, plus much more. It is her experience that the most effective wellness approaches are in experiential modalities of care, and she has a passion for animals to best assist, thus helping humans & animals on their healing/life journeys. All sentient life is connected & important, fostering community, purpose, empowerment, harmony, & intentional acts or ways of being in the beautiful art of living. Laura has integrated her trainings personally and professionally, to design this program where animals and participants lead sessions for their greatest potential outcomes.

This is not for profit, so that the only intention is for health & wellness. Donations can be made on a sliding scale for free voluntary services, or for support. Donations will support animal rescue efforts, animal care, program materials, facilitation costs, free services, community betterment, many non-profit organizations and charities, and future on-site sanctuary set up. Everyone deserves access to wellness & learning in order to co-create a better world.

      Divine Moments Gatherings

      Intentional gatherings called Divine Moments have been created with a Light Circle of friends for a heart-centered weekly health oriented experience. A time to come together, synchronize and rise up to our highest potential and greatest good collectively. We begin with a nature experience and Turtle Time to get centered then practice any or often all of the following: spiritual or positive sharing of insights, journaling, reading sound healing, parasite zapping, tuning fork  sessions, Qi-Gong, Adaptogenic Stone work, Biogeometry, Structured Hydrogen Water for Hexagonal Hydration, Body & Energy Work, deep breathing techniques, chakra balancing, self-connection, vibe plate, rebounder, EFT or Callahan Tapping, world betterment discussion for action, self help tips, healthy snacks or small mealtime (plant-based, organic, local, NON-GMO, gluten free options), educational food making lessons, apocethary making customized, superfood blends to consume & take home, prayer, meditation, & much more. 

      The Healing Intention

      The Healing Intention means, I want for you want I want for me, which is whatever is in your highest potential and greatest, greater good. It means loving more intentionally in an unintentional culture of corrupted consciousness to being more truth, beauty and goodness to the world. We are all important and connected. We are safe, guided, protected and loved unconditionally beyond measure ad Infinitum, no changes required. We are all expert healers and we are all designed to heal. I place the healing intention into everything I do, make and think about. This means I trust that intention has the ability to read potential and deliver whatever is needed in our best and highest good.

      I have designed a workbook journal that can soon be bought or made at home Right Now. Just by placing our daily healing or positive intention in writing puts us well on our way to better personal and collective outcomes in the world. If you wish to make one at home, you can start today and here is the format that I feel works best.

      *First, take a few moments to get into a state of heart-brain coherency and connection by taking some deep breaths (4 inhale, 6 exhale), placing the hand on the heart, and feeling gratitude in detail while turning up the corners of the mouth into a smile position.
      *Next, use blue ink in cursive on white paper to start journaling daily, to create a new healthy habit of betterment.
      *Place a power word in a cloud shape to focus on for the day (examples: Trust, Joy, Faith, Courage, Agency, Compassion, etc…)

      1- Place your healing or positive intention dated for the day, and get as detailed as you so choose. Say these out loud.

      2- Describe the embodiment of that outcome as to what your day would look like, feel like and mean to you personally, plus adding how it would feel to the world to accomplish this intention or how would it benefit you and the greater good.

      3- Create a set of positive affirmations of this embodiment using I am affirmation statements or affirming language of your choice; be sure to add today specifically. Say these out loud and repeat as many times as you feel appropriate.
      4- List 3 new or continued health practices to incorporate into your day. Also, list 3 habits you would like to let go of while replacing them with the 3 health habits listed, or others. 

      5- Select a daily quote or create one for yourself for a daily wisdom reminder.
      6- Choose a daily challenge for yourself (like zero complaints for example).
      7- Select a word or words to change, omit or reframe from your speech (like replacing can’t with can or should with could for example).

      8- Describe what you most want for yourself or your truest heart’s desire(s). Also, include why you desire this in detail and the impact it would have on yourself and the greater good. Dream big dreams. Say this all out loud. 

      9- Take a moment to explore what might be getting in the way of what you most want for yourself.
      10- Imagine you are living with your truest heart’s desires in detail. See yourself as having all of this be true, without getting attached to outcomes as they can be limiting. Use your imagination!
      11- Make a daily prayer list and forgiveness list. 

      12- Create or choose a favorite prayer sealed in faith, trust and truth.

      *Feel free to add anything to this workbook that resonates with you (maybe add a task you have been putting off for example).
      *Remember that just placing your daily healing intention is enough to change your life in a positive way.
      *Remember to live, think, speak, and eat more intentionally. We can always choose the high road or highest road available in the way we respond versus react to the world.

      *Be sure to add an affirmation about self-love and gratitude in the end (I love myself deeply and completely and am getting better each day. I am great and I am grateful today and every day, for example).  
      *Our Joy is our Job!

      Kindful Kitchen makes specialized ALL ORGANIC, NON-GMO, PLANT-BASED, LOCAL ingredients (when possible) meals, snacks, beverages, spice blends, Top Dog Chef blends, functional superfood creations, structured water with HEXAGONAL HYDRATION & apothecary. Items are made with LOVE & GRATITUDE in a home kitchen or subject to health inspection. These are GREATER GOODIES, meaning real food for real people, pets and planetary wellness. Meals are made with carbon steel and nickel free cook wear. Only oils that can stand a high smoke point and heat are used at low heat then other oils may be added at the end of the cooking process. Plastic is not used either. Sound healing and healing intention is conducted while making these customized creations. everything is eco-sourced and stored in smooth glass jars. Ingredients have been tested for heavy metals (such as why Maldon and Saltverk Sea  Salts are only used and specific pepper or spice blends along with nuts, seeds & superfoods). Vitamin C is most often used in blends to clear any chance of mold toxicity. Many more considerations are applied when creating these healthy food experiences.

Spices are often sourced locally and tested for heavy metals.       HEXAGONAL HYDRATION STATION

      Kimdful Kitchen makes structured water called HEXAGONAL HYDRATION. Filters used: R/O, CF, UV. The water also has alkaline infusion along with ionic trace minerals and some well water from Oracle, Az at Safe Passage Sanctuary on a tested well for added minerals and living water. the water has a brief copper infusion, and sound healing singing bowls, tuning forks, mantra music, Tesla charge plate, and adaptogenic stone sitting. It is made with HEALING INTENTION reading potential to that which is needed of each consumer with love & gratitude. It is stored in smooth glass. The recommendation is to drink with positive intention with each gulp. There is also a WATER BAR to show these processes and provide free structured water in Oracle at Safe Passage Sanctuary. The goal is to get the water in hexagonal form so that it can be best absorbed. Hydrogen water is also made with machines and tablets when the drinker can consume without 1-3 minutes of making on site.

      Many apothecary items are made in the Kindful Kitchen. A few examples:



      BUTT CHAP (The butt wipe alternative): made from witch hazel, rose water, aloe, tea tree, clove, jojoba, apricot seed oil. This is an all purpose body spritzer to cleanse, tone and hydrate.


      LOVINGKIND MASSAGE OILS: Made from

      jojoba, apricot seed oil, arnica, saint johns wort oil and infused with local mint.

      LOVINGKIND LAUNDRY DETERGENT: Made from structured water, 45% vinegar, borax, frankincense, myrrh, clove, tea tree, & eucalyptus.


      BEAUTY WAY BATH BLEND: Made with structured water, aloe, jojoba, Maldon Sea Salt, Rose Water, Frankincense, Myrrh, Baking Soda, & Tea Tree.

      COSMIC COLOGNE & PERFECTION PERFUME: The base is jojoba, arnica, saint johns wort & apricot seed oil, and then either a honeysuckle vanilla blend is added to the perfume or frankincense & myrrh to the cologne.

      CHIKARA CLEANER: all purpose cleaner made from 45% vinegar, borax, tea tree, clove, & eucalyptus.

      MAGICAL MOUTHWASH: Structured Water & clove is one blend and baking soda another.

      DIRT BOX

      Whats in your DIRT BOX? Dirt boxes are customized with dirt gathered from sacred areas to create an at home ground or earthing experience. FULVIC & HUMIC are added, along with copper and some grounding adaptogenic stones. Each box comes with some organic and non-GMO seeds to plant. the dirt has been infused with tuning fork, singing bowl and other types of sound healing intention. 

      HOUR OF POWER

      The HOUR OF POWER is designed to create new healthy habits by listing 10 healthy habits to incorporate into an hour of your day. Each activity is done for 10 minutes like: reading, journaling, stretching, deep breathing, rebounder, vibe plate, tapping EFT or Callahan, meditation, prayer, Qi-Gong, affirmations, etc… this can be broken down to a 10 minute routine of doing each listed item for just 1 minute each to full 10 minutes in order to get started with the new habit. Just one of these can be done for longer as well to create a new habit, or any variation of time.

      The NON-NEGOTIABLES: This is a changeable daily list you can create to state which activities are not negotiable to complete, often starting at 3 health habits that must be completed and checked off during your day.

      The Healing Arts

      My Healing Journey

      The healing arts has always been my passion and story. I’ve found my way through many opportunities on my personal healing journey including traumas, 2 amputations, CRPS, several injuries, addiction recovery, and much more. It Is truly an art and a dance to find a divine freedom in our innate abilities to be our own expert healers. I’ve worked as a massage therapist in numerous modalities, owned a health food store and healing art center, studied environmental science, worked as a counselor for addiction & mental health, been trained in equine therapy and CPTSD NARM approaches, created The Animal Wellness experience, also trained in Yoga & Qi-Gong instruction,  along with taking classes in The Jose Silva Method for dynamic meditation, crystal & sound healing, Biogeometry, plus more! I have applied these modalities and integrated them into my own healing trajectory. I was able to get my eye sight back to 20/20 from 20/40, come off synthroid, recover from addiction, injuries and traumas both physical, spiritual, & mental. Experiential wellness has been a key to what is effective along with community and purpose. I hope by describing some of my daily routines and health tips that they can inspire and be helpful to you. This is not medical advice, rather what I have found to work for me & it starts with belief, an internal dive or inside job. We are designed to heal and are already healed, healthy , whole and complete.

      BIOLOGICAL DENTISTRY: Seeing a biological dentist has been helpful in my healing journey to test for heavy metals and remove any harmful dentistry practices incurred. Oral hygiene is imperative to good health. I use baking soda and clove oil, a copper tongue scrapper in the morning, probiotics, ozone, special floss non toxic, coconut oil hulling, and more.

      NMD & Natural Practitioners: It has been helpful to see naturopathic doctors to look at the whole picture on a medical home team. I get regular bodywork/energywork, IVs, acupuncture, and other modalities. Colonics is on my list & cold plunging . 


      DETOX: Detoxing heavy metals, parasites , molds, etc… has helped a lot. I used a comprehensive & slow Cell Core approach, along with Hulda Clark methods like the zapper, and recommendations to decrease the toxic load. I use EMF protection on my body, in my house, and on my phone and such, along with digital detox baths.infrared light and heat pads are great along with breaking a sweat. 

      I use the zapper regularly and have had incredible results for parasite, worm, mite removal and use the Hulda Clark store product and have made my own. I recommend her books.


      FOOD & WATER: Using organice, NON-GMO, gluten free, local produce, Whole Foods unprocessed, eco-sourced is paramount in my opinion to creating a clean slate of health. Making structured hexagonal water and using hydrogen water also adding trace minerals is key. Eating superfoods daily has been great in my experience. Following an aryu dietary recommendation list has been paramount (eating when hungry, allowing 8 hours for digestion, no leftovers after 6 hours, chewing many times before swallowing, limit beverage intake while eating, no carbonated drinks, food combining, no freezer or microwave, eating slowly and intentionally, not eating late, starting day with warm water & sometimes lemon, are just a few examples. I use carbon steel and don’t heat oils without high smoke points; I avoid plastics and choose smooth round glass or copper; titanium cutting board; nickel free utensils, etc… food is welcomed to my body with love & gratitude. Regular fasting!I use some liposomal supplements as well (D3 w K2, Glutathione, Saffron, B complex, for example) Spirulina is a daily must,  along with amino acids, Nascent Iodine, Trace Minerals, probiotics, magnesium threonate & superfoods. More to come for this section soon! *only natural products from apothecary are used. I avoided coffee and no alcohol. PH balance and frequency are importantly. Anoto-Inflamation diet helps. Prescription and non prescription over the counter items avoided when possible. a holistic approach is implemented always first. I often end meals with fennel and fenugreek seeds to digest better and stabilize my blood sugar. I avoid massive sugar spikes and no more than 3 sugar hits to the system and dental health as well. I avoid glyphosates, seed oils and processed foods. Taking vitamin C from a reputable source and cooking with vitamin C can help clear mold. I don’t use anti-streak in my dish detergents for washing as they have been said to disrupt and destroy the gut lining. Eating fermented foods can be beneficial to gut biome.       MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE: Low impact adaptove movement daily is key & preventative. It helps move lymph and loosen fascia for optimal health. I use Qi-Gong, Yoga, Vibe Plate, rebounder, deep breathing, dance, PT, and more. Grounding mats are helpful to use when stretching or meditating. I love the zero gravity Hale massage chair! First thing in the morning is shoulder shrugs for lymph movement. Eye exercises are important as well. The pursuit of comfort feels like a toxic epidemic and I avoid it when possible as neurogenesis occurs with each challenge overcome.


      GETTING OUTSIDE: 8 hours a day I find ideal without sunglasses, and early morning or evening can be best. Earthing and grounding are important. Animals help with this aspect. Gardening is a superior practice. Getting our hands in the dirt and being a part of where our food comes from while exchanging energy with plants has amazing results.


      INTENTION, MEDITATION, VISUALIZATION, GRATITUDE: I am intentional about my thoughts, words, actions, etc… Gratitude and unconditional love are practiced as much as possible. Visualizing my day and positive perspective that’s expansive, heart-centered, and open without limits is helpful. Affirmations that I am loving in perfect health getting better every day, along with others is powerful. The Jose Silva Method for meditation has helped me the most with changing my life and pain etc… surrounding myself with a LIGHT CIRCLE OF FRIENDS lends to better outcomes. I omit the word can’t with can or should with could. Reading and journaling daily has profound effects. This helps with creativity and inspiration. I pay attention to building new neural pathways and clearing old traumas. We must let our old stories go & create new ones that serve our highest potential and good to become healthier and happier.

      FABRICS: I wear organic cotton & use organic cotton sheets, blankets and other natural materials as much as possible sticking with lighter colors. Hemp and linen can be great too.  I use grounding sheets as well. What touches our skin enters our bloodstream. Tattoos aren’t healthy so I stopped getting them.

      SLEEP HYGEINE: A salient message from The Intl Olympic Slumber Team that sleep is a number one health hack. I get to bed by 9pm or 10pm and limit screen time a few hours before bed also using grey scale on my digital devices as often as possible. I get up about 6am and sometimes take power naps. Being a night owl creates a challenge but my pain, attitude, and energy improve with healthy sleeping habits. I don’t put my phone or router in my room. Gratitude is offered prior to bed and I often read before retiring for restoration. I avoid the news or negative images.

      HEART- BRAIN CONNECTION: Getting into heart and brain coherence as much as possible has been beneficial. The Heart-Math Inst has great information on this subject. I breathe deeply exhaling longer than inhaling, place a hand on my heart and deeply feel into my gratitudes.

      - The 4 letter  H Word… (use don’t prefer, not my favorite and then add what is preferred)

      - STUPID … omit this word 

      - PROBLEM… (use OPPORTUNITY, CHALLENGE, PROJECT TO FIX)

      - KILLING ME… (use feels like an unpleasant feeling to acknowledge)

      - God D….T… (use God Bless it)

      - AVOID NEGATIONS: Instead of don’t eat on the couch, use let’s eat at the table for example. 

      - AVOID ASSUMPTIONS AND STAY CURIOUS.

      *One can say cancel cancel and rephrase when catching ourselves in negative speech. Be mindful to SPEAK LIDFE INTO everything. We are made of a lot of water responding with each cell and mirror neurons to words. Our words are powerful. Use them wisely and get creative to stay positive. Our subconscious is listening and recording and then acting in these words. Be intentional. Being kind over being right is important and speaking with curiosity versus assumptions is paramount to healthy communication. People remember how we treat them. Respect diversity and avoid judgement as it’s harmful. Active listening is key as well. Responding versus reacting is what I have worked on the most.  We don’t need to take thins personally and just speak our truth from our hearts then let the rest be. The truth needs no defense. Fear & doubt replace with faith. Practice healthy boundaries. Avoid YOU NEED TO and invite to explore versus imposing our self-will implying we know better while objectifying someone. Avoid placing negative words after I AM statements like I am disappointed versus I feel disappointed as I AM statements are powerful.

      *I’ve found that an ounce of prevention yields a ton of cure and less is more. Also, later is now!
